What can you expect?

We’re celebrating 10 years of impact to our community. Since June 2015 we’ve raised over $450,000 for charities in Waterloo Region, and this July 17 we want you to join us too!

Doors open at 6pm, with presentations starting promptly at 7pm. Door prizes and new member prizes announced after charity voting.

Who are we and what do we do?

100 Men Who Give a Damn is an inclusive, not-for-profit group of over 100 men who have been making a difference in our community since 2015. As a member of 100 Men Who Give a Damn, we each commit to donating $400 per year to local registered charities.

Our meetings are held four times a year. Prior to our meetings our members nominate a local charity they would like to receive our donations. Our volunteer board members select three charities from the nominations and invite them to present.

How do we do it?

At every meeting we get to learn about three amazing local charities, directly from the passionate people who drive them. The stories they share with us are informative, and often quite moving. They explain why help is needed, how their charity addresses that need, how it benefits our community, and how our donations will impact what they do. Once all three charities have finished their 5-minute presentations, the gentlemen in attendance have their chance to vote for the charity they would like to receive the combined donation. The votes are counted straight away, and our selected charity is announced on the spot.

Why do we do it?

In less than an hour, we fundraise over $10,000 for a local charity, enabling these compassionate people and organizations to make the change we want to see throughout our region.

As we pack up and head home for the evening, it is always deeply satisfying hearing our members speak of the sense of pride and camaraderie they’re feeling from knowing that they have directly contributed to improving the lives of countless others.

Here’s what happened last time:

During the meeting, we were honored to hear from Domestic Violence Victims Alliance, our funded charity from last quarter, and we proudly presented them with their well-deserved big cheque, totalling $11,891!

We then had the privilege of hearing from three more amazing local charities:

• Pride Stables: Helping 200 children annually through their riding program
• The Lullaby Project: Strengthening the bond between parent and child
• Strong Start: Supporting the development of strong literacy skills

The presentations were all engaging and informative, leaving a lasting impact on all those who attended. We are pleased to announce that Strong Start was voted as our funded charity for this quarter!
